What do I do with my Stoner in California?

The option of registering my SR-25 Stoner is NOT an option, period. They can stick their registration up their ass, especially since they are now confiscating SKS's that people legally registered a few years ago.

As of now, my SR-25 Stoner will be kept out of State. But, I am trying to figure out a way that I can have my beloved Stoner .308 precision rifle in California without registering it. All I want to do is take it to the range and shoot paper targets with it, as it is a precision rifle I bought for hunting for cripes sake.

The problem is, I do not understand the law so I do not understand how to make my Stoner legal. What if I take the handle off of it or something and just shoot it without the handle, like a regular rifle?

Stoner? What stoner?

Don't think I would play leap frog with the kali state unicorn. If you want it here maybe indian reservation will be legal dont know? To transport it make sure it is in a locked case though. Preferable out of view. Dont think most ranges will care what is shot at them they dont know status either or. If you chance it make sure you vehicle is up to standards and your driving also. Dont need any reasons to get pulled over. Hopefully most leo's wont enforce this unconstitutional law if they do find anything.

I would ABSOLUTELY not take any chances with your Stoner.
Contact the NRA and maybe they can give you the definitive interpretation of the law, or find a Kali lawyer who specialises in firearms law.
If you get caught doing anything illegal, you risk losing your right to possess ANY firearms.
You can always leave it with me in Arizona.
I've resisted moving to Commifornia where my fiancee comes from because of the repressive gunlaws, It's caused a lot of friction, but I've made it clear, if it's choice between her or the guns, well don't ask any questions you won't like the answers to.

Another option to consider would be that of moving to a free state. You're welcome here in Tennessee; I have a couple of those nasty gray AR type rifles sitting in my safe right now, and I'm not considered an enemy of the state. At least not yet.

Send the stoner to me for safe keeping... :) Just kidding. If it is an option I would move the heck out of cali. It is a nice place to visit but with all of the recent laws that have passed I would not want to live there. Come visit us in the south. Georgia (were I am at)and most of the surrounding states are gun friendly and honor each others concealed carry. Good luck.

A lawyer friend of mine gave me a legal tip that may or may not still be valid. If the case you carry your firearm in is US mail ( has postage and a ship to address ) it is not subject to opening without a federal warrant. So it could not legally be discovered during a traffic stop.

my FFL just told me that all "yeh that means ALL" semi-auto center fire rifles with detachable magaginzes are now considered assault weapons in Kalifornia. That means Ruger mini-14, mini-30, Remington 7400 and even Browning BAR...You either register or keep them out of Kalifornia.

by the way, you can no longer legally buy, sell or transfer any of these above mentioned firearms in Kali. When you die, the state takes them.

Do not register nothing. I'll send them to hell first. Just keep business as usual and take it to the range when you can. And unless the cops or range masters start harransing you then its time to move elsewhere to another range. But do not register it and follow these pigs commies laws.

Being an AR owner/match competitor in CA myself, I find the current political trend here disgusting. That SKS owners legally registered their arms and had them confiscated - what are we supposed to think here? just a LITTLE erosion of trust level. Ive decided to wait for a possible recant of the law, if that doesn't happen the AR may be sold to a friend out of state. Lived here all my life, maybe I'll move.

Guys, you don't fight the bill after it became the law. You fight it before hand. Once the bill is law, you are SOL. Look at New York, England and Australia. To not register in California and then take your "assault weapon" to the range is suicide. Don't listen to Ed Chavez, its only a toy, either sell it or register or move out. But fighting the law is stupid. Should have fought the Bill.

Do not give up so easily. Even if it SEEMS we gun owners are losing, we never give up. We will fight until we stand no more. And you should know better than to call a tool (the gun) an assault weapon. My gun did not become a weapon yet. A gun becomes a weapon after it has killed a human being/s. Anyways, we must fight the laws that make no sense and take them to the supreme court if we have to. Join gun friendly groups. And lets join together to combat this evil tyrant in court and not in warfare. And another thing Britain, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and many others do not have the Second amendment. We do, lets USE it or it will die out.

I live in Maryland which is right on the heals of California. We're shopping for property and jobs in Virginia. It is easier and more practical to find a freindly location than to attempt to change the system here. This place ain't worth it.

I wouldn't get into a showdown with the authorities. People that want to challenge their new law and power are why they get up in the morning. They'll enjoy putting you away and making an example out of you for testing their law. If you don't like it, LEAVE!! That's one thing that we are still allowed to do. Do it while you can. So all us gun lovers wind up in gun freindly states and haters in the others. Is that so bad? I know where I'll feel safer.

y'all have see my posts that point out that CA AW residents have less than 90 days to obtain a permit to own a machine gun?

don't let them pull another sks scam on you.

all this legal manuevering by the CA gov't has the goal of eliminating civilian semiauto weapons

what is next on the endangered gun list?
