What compares to an HK Expert?

I am thinking about a new pistol (who isn't). My favorite is the Expert in .45. What else compares favorably? I'l use it for IDPA or Target mostly, though carry cpability is always a plus. I'm considering other calibers. My first consideration is quality.
 
I like my Expert a lot. A great muzzle heavy feel when compared to the standard full size. The only 45 that tops it are the custom 45s (Baer, Wilson). They have even better build quality. I bought the Expert as a "shooter", gives me the same 1911 handling protocols and is very durable. A great gun to own.
