What color should the bore be when clean?

I recently bought an ex-police Beretta 92FS. Nice gun - needed a little cleaning. The bore looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the last qualification. I soaked it in solvent for a few minutes, then scrubbed the crap out of it with the brass brush. The bore is now a nice silver color. I've never seen that in a handgun barrel before, except in a stainless gun. Usually the bores stay a nice dark/black color, even when well cleaned.

Thoughts?

I'm not worried about it, just curious.

Mirror colored

Your bore should be like a mirror. Beretta's like yours should have a chrome lined barrel that when clean should look like a mirror. Most other bores will look similar when truly clean, just not as bright as chrome.

When i last inspected the bore of my USP9 (with polygonal rifling ) after 300 rnds, it had streaks of lead and soot near the muzzle. After vigorous brass brush scrubbing and lead cutter application, the bore came out sparkling chrome clean. I think the other polygonal bore models would have a similar finish. sorry, i haven't seen a Beretta bore before, but i wouldn't think it would be any different.

Well I didn't know the Beretta barrel was chrome lined, so that answers that.

As to the mirror finish: It's a dull silver now. I would contend that it is truly "clean" because there is no evidence of any products of combustion or copper fouling visible to the naked eye. The only other explanation could be that what I'm seeing is lead build-up (thus the silver color) but I doubt it since it was a police service pistol. So is it possible that it is "clean"; just that it's not polished?
