What cleaner do you use?

I had a gallon of denatured alcohol i was using in a spray bottle to clean my stainless reloading bench as well as using it to clean lube from brass and other miscellaneous tasks. Well I'm about out and saw denatured alchol is almost $20 after tax for a gallon at Lowe's. What do you guys use? I'm thinking of using regular running alcohol.

When I lube, I only lube the outside of the case [no expander balls] with Imperial Die Wax.

I do not remove it.... and when hunting ammo falls in the dirt, the dirt sticks. Then I wipe off the lube and dirt on my pants while hunting.

Yeah I've never used any cleaner to remove lube, just a towel - and I've also started considering leaving it on as well (using Imperial same as Clark). If I use an inside neck lube it's dry graphite

Mineral Spirits

My primary go-to solvent, is Mineral Spirits. Then depending on what I'm working on, I have a number of different solvents like Hoppies. Strong-Arm, break cleaner and yes, Denatured alcohol. It removes any residual oils and leaves the metal dry and unprotected. ........ ;)

I still use the same pint of Denatured Alcohol that I bought years ago. ... :)

Cleaning stainless steel? I use acetone with 3M Scotchbrite. Vinegar is also popular for stainless. I worked my last 25 years with stainless parts used in Naval Reactors and acetone was the main go to for stainless steel. Vinegar is more household friendly.

My apologies as I went back and read you post and paid more attention to your application. I mentioned Mineral Spirits and then listed a whole bunch of other solvents. For general bench work, I use Mineral Spirits. Around here, I have three work stations and all have a bottle of Mineral Spirits for general us. I even wipe my oily hands with it. ...... :)

I clean my brass in a wet tumbler with SS pins, water, dawn & lemi shine. Lube inside & out of case neck and body. Then back in the wet tumbler with dawn detergent and water for 1 hour. Spotless.
