If you were hog hunting with a 454 Casull what bullet would you use.

Ill be shooting no more than 50 yards, most of the time it will be around 25 yards.
I was thinking FMJ at 300Gr?
I dont think I need hollow points,,do you?

Cast Performance makes some nice bullets for the 454. I've shot many of the 360 gr at targets, accuracy is great. I also have loaded some of the 395gr bullets at mild, moderate, and near max levels. The mild to moderate loads have good accuracy but havent shot the ones loaded near max. Has anyone used these 395gr for hunting? They may be my deer bullet this year instead of the 300gr XTPs (which by the way is a great bullet).

Think large metplat and enough mass to pass through.

Heavy hard cast accomplishes this less expensively.......

But I will say that I've used the XTP in a .44 Mag on a lot of hogs and the design deserves the praise it gets!

Like mentioned above, don't get yourself in trouble by using full metal jacket bullets. They are not legal to hunt with. Corbon makes some nice .454 casull hunting loads.
