What are you best with?

Better with a 1911 than anything else. Can't hit jack with a shotgun unless it's not moving, then it's maybe 50/50.

Much as I hate to admit it, because its so "unglamorous", but my dad has a Savage Model 99F (F for featherweight) lever action chambered for .308, iron sights. Nothing fancy about it but I can shoot better with that than anything else I've ever shot.

If I can see it, I can hit it, literally, out to 300 yds.

Give me a rifle, and I can hit most anything out to 1,000 yards, thanks to the taxpayers that put me through scout/sniper school. :) With a handgun, I can hold my own but not nearly as good as with a rifle. With a shotgun, if you put me in the barn and closed the doors, I might be able to hit the broad side. LOL

Believe it or not I'm best with a Remington 581-S .22.
In 4 position smallbore competition my best score was a 199 14X out of a possible 200 20X, but I averaged 198 most of the time.
When I won the '84 NC state smallbore NRA Light Rifle silhouette championship, I used my 581 in that match too.
There's also a few pics of me in a few National Rifleman mags from years ago (don't remember the dates at the moment), but there's my trusty little 581 right there with me. ;)

Auto pistols and rifles.
However I am very handy with the MP5...

Shotguns? As long as they dont have the bead sight... With a bead - I can hit water if I fell out of a boat.

Because I've shot skeet for years, it would have to be a shotgun.
But I can hold my own with a 1911 also.

Well, push-button phone; maybe typewriter...("Not just a pretty face; I can type!")

Basically, I guess, I'm mostly a rifleman.

Motorep: I found that after a couple of years of IPSC, my shotgunning improved dramatically. I guess "front sight, press" made a big difference as the styles are in many ways similar...

I'm best with a nice Shimano Calcutta Bait Cast reel with a G. Loomis 6'6 rod...

On a serious note, I'm best with iron sights on an AR. Pistol wise, Full-size 1911.

I'm a handgunner. A good Smith double action for serious work and to me at least nothing "points" as well as a single action in the vien of the Colt SAA.
I do alright with a scattergun but can't hit a bull in the butt with a rifle. Uncle Sam tried but decided I was better with a 1911 than an M-16....go figure. :)

(Sensop, if you read this thread I used the little yeller smiley instead of the big green, toothy one you hate. :))

Gunslinger

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

I'm fair with all, but a master of none. Really can't say what I'm best at. With a shotgun I get about 85-95% on the traps, depending on the day. Pistol at 25 yrds, about same within 9" target. Rifle open sights, bout the same percentage at 150 yards 9". This is all standing with no rest. I can get quarter sized groups at 150 yards with sand bags and scope.

I'm decent with pistols and revolvers, fair-ta-middlin' with shotguns (avg 80% in trap with an 18" cyl-bore), and scary with my lever .45-70. Never woulda guessed that my best shooting is done with a >100-year-old gun and cartridge. :)

All of my guns shoot better than I do, but usually, if I can see the target, I can hit close enough to make a Christian of it.
I normally hit better with my small calibers, though- 10/22 and MKII.

Well, out of what I have, I only shoot two or three. I shoot my duty weapons the best, but I can hold my own with my 700.

Best at short range with my Sig P239 9mm. Should be, since I've put about 6,000 rounds through it and I don't really have another handgun that I shoot with any regularity. It's the one I carry, so it's the one I work out with.

Best at long range with my Savage 10FP Tactial in .308 Win. One ragged hole at 100 yards. Haven't shot it beyond that, but have confidence that I could make a shot up to 300 yards for certain and likely well beyond that.

I can hit a stationary or slow-moving target with my shotgun, but that's about it. Gotta work on that, soon.

Well, it's confession time. I can't shoot worth a darn at long distances, even with a scoped rifle. By long I mean 200 yards or more! (not very long) I don't have the patience, too keyed up or something. However, I am really good at fast and close in, multiple targets etc. HK USP .45 at 25 yards to touching, or AR-15A2 shorty, dead on from 75 yards on down. Keep in mind this is basicly point shooting, or focusing on the front sight and squeezing smooth and quick. With a shotgun I'm also pretty good (and fast).
