OK, I read all the posts. Without straying too far into the third-party argument, what about you third's to convince your liberal friends to vote for Nader? He's running at about 10% here in Wisconsin now. I'm even seeing Nader yard signs already!

As for the topic question itself, I'll comply with His Goreness's wishes. I'll get the proper papers for my $50 .22 plinker. Scanner, Quarkexpress, Photoshop and a good printer.

What happens.

1) I get really really drunk.
2) I either find, or organize a "Fund" for lawsuits.
3) Every gun law that get's passed, gets brought before a court to see if's it's constitutional. As soon as I get a win we drop it.
4) Start working at the State level for more CCW laws.
5) Work on a agenda to bring Handgun law down to the state level.

What will we do?
Plant covert operatives into Canada and start a war - which will be laimed on Gore and then we can impeach him.
If our Operatives work fast - mainly by going to Hocky games and yelling that Canada is just the 51st state and that Football is a better sport and that Canada doesnt know what real bacon is...
I give it 2 weeks...
We could have Gore out of office before New Years! :)
 
Jame and Jack are right I think most will get a little upset and then go quietly into the night, back to there TV, Beer and bitching. You gotta admit that most here dont have much faith in our soon to be guardings of the constitiution "the pepsi generation"

I think this is right on the head, all they have to do is wait long enough for most of the stubborn old timers to die off and then it will be too late for the few young people that do support RKBA to do anything about it.
 
Consider CA and MA. If Gore gets elected there will be much talk and griping and then the vast majority will comply with the law. I'm afraid that there is much talk and little action among even dedicated gun owners. There may be many more who will join the NRA, which will continue to compromise so we don't lose our handguns as fast, but compromise the NRA will. Jerry

And I'm from Australia, I know how this goes. But there are a LOT of guns in the US - they won't start collecting them for some time.

Even Feinstein's optimistic registration scheme gives you 10 years to register the old stuff. The yellow forms ARE a mess and gunshow/private sales are still legal, so they can't use them as a reliable registry.

This will be slow and painful - and more like Canada. You'll be able to keep even semiautomatic rifles for a long time; but probably without the ability to ever transfer them/pass them on.

There's still discretionary licencing and registration that must be done before confiscation, and that will take a while. Gore won't even be president by the time you've done the gun-licence for $10 to anyone, gun-licence for $150 if you show "need" two-step.

Gore is telling the truth when he says he won't be collecting people's guns. That task will fall to someone else.

I started the original thread because I know first-hand how being frustrated and angry can affect your life.

There's a lot we need to do if Gore gets elected, including things you just can't post to TFL, but we all need to prepare ourselves psychologically for the worst.
 
We will implore the NRA to continue fighting for our rights, just like they have been all along. Hopefully they won't ban private transfers with the NRAs good graces. We'll talk about electing somebody else in next time. And we will blame those that didn't vote, or those that voted for a third party, because we don't want to get up and fight. We're too comfortable! The NRA will continue to get our money, even when all we got are bolt action guns, .22s and bb guns. We would say, "hey, without the NRA, we wouldn't even have these guns, so stop griping and keep the money flowing!" Which is pretty much the same thing that will happen if Bush is elected. So, WTF?

I wouldn't worry about Gore to much. The thing I would worry about is the Democraps taking back control of the House and Senate. Because the day they are all sworn in, your gun rights will be gone. So I will sit here until then, and when election returns start coming in, then I'll know what I have to do. If control goes back to the Democraps, then I start buying the he11 out of ammo.
