What are these spots on my Hi Powers Blueing??

Hello,

Just bought a brand new Hi Power Capitan pistol. Upon closer inspection, I noticed some small spots in the blueing near the muzzle end on the slide. They are on both sides. It is definitely not corrosion or pitting, just little circular spots where the blueing looks lighter, almost milky. They are only visable in certain light. Is this just a mess up in the Blueing job, or what causes this? Just wondered if anyone else has seen this before.
Thanks!

Try taking a light gun oil (like remoil) and LIGHTLY oil the slide. Are the spots still there?

Now take a dry patch and wipe off all the oil you can. Are the spots still there?

My guess is that the "spots" will disappear after you oil the slide. Since the metal should always have a light coating of oil on it, you might not ever see those spots again. If not, then they prob messed up the blue job.

Sorry if you think I'm insulting your intelligence by my post. It seems that many newer shooters have little experience with blued guns! Hell, I bought my BHP blued instead of the baked on finish just cause they are the last company that seems to be making good blued guns anymore...
