What are the differences in Rem 870 'Express' and Special Purpose' shotguns?

I have read that the 'Express' model 870s are made from parts that don't make the cut for the other models/lines of the 870, but I had found a 'Special Purpose' Magnum model that is in a similar configuration as the 'Express' and not much more than an 'Express' model (by about 30 dollars). I was thinking of making a HD gun and did not feel up to spending 350 dollars or so on a' Police' model 870. Anyone know the differences?

The only real difference I know of between the Remington Model 870 Express and the 870 Special Purpose is the metal parts on the Special Purpose are sand blasted. Hope this helps!

Cosmetics, and....

For a while the Expresses were equipped with plastic trigger assemblies and the high dollar Wingmasters metal, but now they all come with the plastic.

There's lots of older 870s out there, all will make a good test bed for a HD tool.
