What are SMILEYS for?

I almost hesitate to ask because sure as shootin' someone will actually give me a serious answer.

When I post something that is tongue-in-cheek or somewhat humorous (at least to my twisted mind) I have learned to put in a smiley so it will not be seen as a serious question or remark.

But .....never fails.......someone will reply with an answer that assumes the original post was deadpan serious.

I have even put "humor" or "4 laffs" in the header.

How does one post a satirical msg without having half the shooting world running to the Lyman manual or something?

Or shud I just shut up unless it is a real question?

Sorry Lavan, so sorry. I know, I know, it was my fault. It was the post in the thread you started about the zip ties. I knew it was meant as humor but it was the perfect opening for me to vent about the people at shows. and all that
