What about the Polytech AK-47?

I've read some rave reviews of this gun, some saying that it equlas the Russian in quality. Any opinions on this board? Also, I thought I read somewhere that CDNN Investments was selling these for around $400. Is this still the case? If not, where can I pick one up (provided of course, that I receive postive feedback.

Not sure about recent suppliers/prices, but I've had one for several years. Never has failed me; one of the best representatives of the AK family, IMO.

I would doubt if CDNN had Poly Tech AK's for $400 each. A good poly tech AK can run from $1000 - 1700 depending upon the quality and desire of the buyer. The CDNN AK's are probably Egyptian MADDI style with stamped recievers and parts kit "remakes". But the MAADI is a decent gun for shooting cans and stuff. Everybody should have a cheap 7.62x39 shooter. The ammo is cheap and the AK is a fun gun to shoot.

That takes me back. I remember that, at one point, there was an oversupply of Polytech's and saw them at a gunshow for $237. Whew!

They've installed the Choat "Dragunov" buttstock setup, removed the bayonet lug, and permenantly attached some sort of muzzle device to comply. They are indeed advertised as Polytechs for $399.

If they're the higher quality version of the Norinco guns, it should be quite good.

Yes, those are postban guns. The Preban Legends are KFS imports. Nice for an AK, if that's what you like.

The POLYTECH AK's that CDNN are selling are the ones that go 'stuck" in customs back in 1989. They are PRE-BAN rifles that were slightly modified to meet compliance. They are the BEST AK that is available. As stated above, they have a synthetic Choate stock and the bayo lugs has been removed. Everything else is Pre-Ban Original. I bought one from CDNN when they were $429 and I love it. SUPER QUALITY and SWEEEET trigger.

Get them while they are available cause when they are gone....Thats it.

CDNN is a very good company to deal with. I just wish that they would use ACTUAL SHIPPING COST rather than their $8.99 flat rate on everything.
