What about British milsurp in .308?

I went to a gun show today looking for some of the Austrian military surplus ammo (Hirtenberger), but no one had any. I wound up buying a couple of boxes of British surplus in .308 (7.62 mm). It's stamped "Made in England" and the plain white label reads "R.G. DATA A4/1818 20 RDS 7.62 mm BALL L2A2".

I saw a lot of South African .308 rounds, but because of some negative posts I've read, I didn't get any of it.

Has anyone shot the British stuff? If so, what did you think?

Radway Green is good ammo. I shoot it all the time in my FAL and have had no problems. The cases are not reloadable, but if that doesn't matter to you than I can't say anything else bad about it. From what I understand, some people consider it to be a bit underpowered, however I can't evaluate that statement for myself. Century arms was selling it for $129 shipped/1000 a month ago.

Can't Reload?

RCS, Just out of curiosity, Why can't you reload this type of .308? I'm looking into a FN FAL myself and I've heard good things about the RG surplus but I was unaware that you couldn't reload the used casings. Whats the story?

Radway Green is Berdan primed. This is a system in which the anvil is part of the cartridge case. US ammunition is boxer primed. Boxer primed ammunition has the anvil as part of the primer. If you look in an empty case, Berdan primed cases will usually have two flash holes, while boxer primed only one. Berdan primed ammunition can be reloaded but it involves dies and primers not readily available in the US.

I was at a show over the weekend and had the chance to compare the RG .308 with some Portuguese .308 side by side. The case mouth on a couple of the RG rounds looked a little rough and the guy running the table said the Portuguese was a little cleaner. The price was $34 for 200 rounds on both so based on my visual inspection and the attendants advice I bought the Portuguese.I have yet to try it out.I will be using it in a Navy Arms .308 Enfield Jungle Carbine I bought at the show.
