Thanks, Mr. Whillikers,
I just reserved it from the local library. Never heard of it but look forward to seeing it. The other very authentic film I can heartily recommend is Ride With The Devil. The men are actually seen LOADING their C&Bs. The dialog is even taken from the 1860s. Ang Lee wanted a realistic film and he did it up right. Even the horse tack is period. It's a Civil War movie but unlike any you've seen if you haven't seen it.
The Quick and the Dead (the "new" one from the mid 90's) shows a guy meticulously measuring and loading his pistol and ramming the balls. It's been awhile, but I think it was something like a Lematt...maybe?
I dunno. He gets winged and is out of the competition the first round
