Western Field "Browning Patent"

Well, I had the Western Field "Browning Patent" 16GA out last weekend. I LOVE it!. The only thing problematic is the "next shell" retainer which keeps the whole magazine from trying to load on one pump. It sticks sometimes. Working the empty action and watching it, you can see that it doesn't extend fully every once in awhile.

I need the takedown instructions for this beast, so I can clean out any junk in there and examine what is going on (and, so I can install a plug.)

TIA

Dear Sir:
I have a Savage, "Browning Patent" 12 model 775 lite-weight and love it too. These are old guns with some old grease or lube that could very well cause your problem - you could free that up with a shot of gun-scrubber or lube (Kroil is super).
Mine has the original highly figured walnut stock, the Savage "Super-Choke" the whole works.
I'm pretty sure you just need to clean that reciever and lube it - I could be wrong.

I think you are correct. I still would like to know how to take this old pump down, though. I haven't spent much time really hard at it, to figure it out myself. Now that school is out (WHEEEEEEEE) I'll have more time to fiddle with it.

:p

I forgot the email addy. On the way.

I'm soaking the receiver in Ballistol, now. We'll see how it does tomorrow.

Everybody was asking me Monday why I was grinning so big when I was obviously gimping more than usual. :D:D:D

It appears this is the Stevens model 520. I have found schematics and Numrich has the cartridge stop listed. Now, I still need the takedown instructions. Gettin' closer. :D
