Western Field 172?

Does anybody know anything about them? I just got one for 40$, and it works. Other than a bolt shotgun, with a odd choke thing at the end of the barrel? I know nothing about it. Are they worth anything? Any good? Is there a way to date this shotgun? I think it was made by mossberg. Thanks!
 
Pretty sure that's a Mossberg repeater with the Montgomery Ward store brand name.

Not sure of model number.

You got a fair deal for $40.
