West Wing tonight and tactics

At the end of the season finale, a few unpleasant people decided to attack the president's entourage. They fired from a couple of stories up in a building across the street, using really ugly pistols. The show spent a couple of minutes showing magazines being loaded, and I could swear I saw the profile of a Glock in there somewhere. ;)

Anyway, I'm just curious as to the consensus here: did they use pistols because the writers are incompetent, or because they're the current political target? Seems to me that more benign hunting rifles would have been an order of magnitude more effective in this scenario, and I've found that the show is almost always well written and researched (even if I disagree strongly with some of the politics.)

"did they use pistols because the writers are incompetent, or because they're the current political target?"

Both IMHO. Last time I'll watch.

Only eeeeevilll firearms would be used by eeeeevilll people to harm the President.

Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm.

I found it interesting that the Secret Service ignored such a great spot to shoot from. Makes them look as incompetant as the people they`re assigned to protect. If viewers are being indoctrinated against guns by NBC, they must think the SS is run by Krusty the Clown.

Current political target.

It was last month that the cast & management of the show attended a party with their real-life WH counter-parts. Was even on the network news, and interviews showed both sets of people positively giddy at hanging with the counter-part.
