We're wearing out our welcome at the MS board

Folks, it seems that our thirst for rational debate has caused us to make the "Ms." BBS look very much like OUR board here. There are over TWENTY gun threads in their POLITICS section, and more continue to be added.

The regulars there have repeatedly asked us to reign in our new threads, to no avail. Could we PLEASE exercise a bit of self-restraint?

Those are good people over there, and we shouldn't "piss them off" by overwhelming their board.

MOO

Good point Dennis. We needn't alienate potential allies.

Guess we can't sneak over and talk about our favorite fingernail polish for our front sights.

As I mentione din the other thread: we have got their attention. Those who so desire can get more info on their own. I am going to try to stay in the background for now.

Also - please link to quotations or articles: people do not have THAT long of an attention span.

I looked at their forum earlier today and was very pleased to see some of our input.

However, I too think that we could overkill our input and create some enemies.

Maybe it would be a good idea to cruise their site and provide educated input as needed, but not as overkill.

Think of it like someone at work. You want to get your point across, but too much of a good thing can sometimes cause them to turn against you.

Let's walk softly and carry a big stick.

"in the days before..."? Oops...guess I'm behind the times once again :o(blush)!

Seriously...my Taurus is sporting a lovely coat of Revlon "Rare Ruby" on its front sight...

I like that white out stuff on my sights. The only thing I will use to lock trigger adjustment screws is Revlon Top Speed. I like Tinsel 165. It's kinda silver so you don't confuse it with Loctite.

I agree that we need to demonstrate some tactical restraint. There are other issues on their board with which we can articulate proper conservative arguments. These um, er people need to hear a fresh (to them) perspective. I suggest a low key, long term campaign. I suggest we infiltrate their threads and use verifiable citations and references instead of opinion to support our positions wheather it is guns, morals, education reform etc. Maybe I'm wasting my time. But I think we can have some fun with them and at the same time some of them might see the light. Anyone remember Paxton Quigly? She was rabidly anti-gun. Now she writes pro-gun articles, wrote a book to enlighten women and trains women to shoot. I'm going over there now to give my 2 cents to those who would blow Bill Clinton for a $1 million.

I think enough has been said about RKBA at the ms boards. 20 threads is pushing it by about 15 too many. I don't think this forum would like it if they did that here. Not going to win us any points.

Seems Glocktalk and AR15 folks have picked up the slack and started some more new threads there. They are on their best behavious though and I explained Ms. regulars that we come from high-traffic forums and new topics aren't an attmpt to crowd them out. They seem to be understanding.

Well, they are generally understanding, but many appear to be UBB neophytes. Suprisingly sensitive ... one was even complaining that we should have introduced ourselves, sort of banded together as a team before we posted, etc.

A lot of those folks are just great. However, there are 2 or 3 that are so ... well, I suppose I shouldn't get into that. Let's just say that I'd rather beat my head against the wall than continue a couple of those conversations. Unbelieveable. I'll bet even some of the MSMagazine members are becoming embarrassed at the illogic.

I will say this - and I don't mean this to be cruel, but I can see why criminals do so well for so long. Some of these ladies will literally not fight back. Has Darwin been asleep at the switch? Wow. How sad. I fear for the children of such women.

Interesting.
General feeling I get is, please leave. I was going to post over there, but decided against it, based on the above. At some point, *no* has been said. If by comparison, seduction or brute force, you continue, the outcome is pretty much the same. Generally I get the feeling that they need neither "White Knight" or "Knuckle Dragger", and resent both equally.

I'd like to thank the members of TFL who engage in intelligent discourse with the women of MS website. Some folks at ar15.com are thinking of playing trolls over there and the last thing we supporters of the Second Amendment need to do is to isolate potential allies.

The weird thing is, they tolerate what seems like an exceptional amount of profanity and personal attacks from their members--but they think we're rude. Maybe I'M the overly sensitive one from too much time spent in "wussy" TFL--but I like it that way.

I've been gone for a while and have missed out on some topics. What is the address to this forum, is it the MSNBC forum by any chance?

Jeff--I'm not sure that the issue is they won't fight back, so much as they choose their methodology. You may see unfettered access to firearms as the one true method of reprisal; I think they disagree.

Don--think about it: how much more leeway would you give to posters you know vs. posters you've never seen before? Especially in a relatively small, tight-knit online community? I see your point, on the one hand; on the other, if a mass of...say, vegetarians flooded in here attacking your views on eating meat, and some of them were blatant trolls...it'd probably be hard to sort the good from the bad, right?

I think if an internet forum is available and allows for free membership or posts, then spread the good word about firearms. No need to be a-holes when someone says something completely irrational or just plain stupid though. Use sound, logical arguments and hopefully some of those "Ms"-informed might see the light.

I do not agree with holding back on posts. Use your freedom of speech to defend the 2nd. Just be diplomatic.
