“We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good” Sen. Clinton

Don't you love it when they make stupid statements in public, on the record? Of course, this is exactly what the socialists WANT to hear, but there, she's preaching to the choir.

Many of you are well enough off that... the tax cuts may have helped you... We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good. -- Sen. Hillary Clinton

...from each according to his means, to each according to his needs. -- Karl Marx

See the difference? Nope. Didn't think so... :barf:

"Necessity is the plea for every infringment upon human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
--William Pitt 1783

Maybe when Congress stops spending our money irresponsibly (look at the debt or the 2004 deficit recently?) I'll be sympathetic to the common good.

I agree that some debt may be healthy, but as an afterthought it is completely intolerable. (Let's spend this money we don't have. We can always issue bonds later to pay interest on that debt... if the debt doesn't magically go away.)

 Scared me for a second, I thought she said something about taking my...guns!!! I dislike that lady, truly I do.

Now, don't you worry yourself about that. She'll take your guns, too, if she gets a chance. It's for the common good, you know. We commoners can't be trusted with our own money, nor with our guns. We need Nanny Hillary and her friends to help us out with these things.

...and not give it to you.
And that is exactly their mindset. Letting me keep what I've earned is somehow "giving" me something. Reminds me of Bill's comment several years ago when he said something to the effect of, "Well, we'd give ya' a tax cut, but we don't think ya'd spend it right..."

Every time that Skankasaurus Regina opens its maw something horrible bellows out. Was anyone surprised by this?

And people actually wonder why I hate leftists.

If Hillary eventually becomes president, and with Pelosi in charge of the House, and Feinstein in the Senate :(

Your guns aren't the only thing I would be worrying about loosing

I thought she said something about taking my...guns!!!

She DID. Yes, the immediate context was money, but the PRINCIPLE is the same one that she'll use to take away guns.

And free speech...

And freedom of assembly...

And religious freedom...

And freedom to be secure in your persons and papers...

And...

Yes. And that's bad. That's not excusable. It should be fought.

But I'm not talking about compromising. If the Hillarys of this country have their way, those freedoms will simply cease to exist. Take a look north to see a country where there is no guarantee of freedom of speech, for example. It's already bad there, and getting worse. We'll catch up and pass them if Hillary has her way.

For example, this board will be gone.

"Laurence Kotlikoff, an economist and research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research, asked this question: If the United States collected all of the future revenue it anticipates receiving and matched that to its future obligations, would it be able to meet them? The answer was "no," to the tune of $45 trillion."
- U.S. government debt jumping by trillions - Dallas Morning News, Sun, Apr. 11, 2004 (Danielle Dimartino)

Now all we need is a definition of "common good". Will it be like the definition of "is'? There is very little doubt given the right circumstances that Hillary could put Pol Pot or Idi Amin to shame.

This says it perfectly...

Yep. I read some time ago about a survey that was done of college students.

They were asked where the phrase "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." came from.

The overwhelming majority thought it came from either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
