Went to buy a Glock 19 met Baby Eagle

I went to buy a Glock 19 yesterday and met the compact Baby Eagle. I was impressed and put off buying the Glock until I have more info on the Baby Eagle. I have reviewed some past threads but most have been poorly supported. In addition I need more technical information like groups that it fires up to 25 metres, detail stripping information etc.

Come on, your input is important!

The Baby Eagle is a modified or updated CZ75 that is made by Tanfoglio of Italy and enhanced by the Israelis. Great, tough, accurate, durable, all-steel weapon capable of eating any 9mm ammo out there at a bargain. The design of the B.E. is such that the frame fully encompasses the slide lending to better accuracy and security in the event that a bad round caused the gun to blow up in your hand. It has the same type rifling as an HK USP if I am not mistaken which means you should avoid lead bullets or clean the weapon's barrel with dilligence after use. This is really not an issue since most all 9mm ammo the world over is jacketed these days.

The Baby Eagle (a.k.a. Jericho 941) is made by IMI and marketed by Magnum Research. I personally rate it as one of the finest 9mm handguns I've ever shot, owing to its balance and trigger. It certainly looks much better than a CZ-75, and as far as I can tell is at least if not more durable than a Glock. Controls and layout are similar to the Beretta 92/96, but my only gripe is that you can't cock-and-lock it (not that you could with a Glock, anyways).

My friend owns a Baby Eagle, and I really wish I got one too; it really is a great gun.

Edit: sorry about neglecting your questions; the gun strips somewhat like a USP, but I can't remember for sure. As for accuracy, it's at least as accurate as my USP and Sig at 15 meters, but I haven't had a chance to try it at a 25 meter range yet.

Hmm. Read your post this morning and you reminded me that I handled a baby eagle at the local shop about a month ago and really liked it.

Went over during lunch and picked one up, semi-compact in 9mm, steel (exactly what I was after), holding it right now. :)

Excellent grip. The trigger feels better than my Sig's but then again I have not fired this one yet.

Haven't read the manual yet either but I get the impression this one will be less friendly than the Sig to strip.

I'll take it to the range tomorrow and report back.

DanP,

You are one serious fella! I anxiously await your report.

Apparently the Israelis hold it in high regard. Their is a much vaunted story where an Israeli soldier used one to take out a rifleman using only 2 shots: pinpoint accuracy.

The Israelis have also adopted the Sig P226, P228 and Glock 17 in some of their units. They still retain the Baby Eagle as their general issue however. Considering there constant combact readiness mode this pistol must really be a performer!

Bullwinkle: The dealer stated that accessories where readily available and even had extended 15 round magazines.
