Went for one and came home with two!

I've been looking to add to my carry collection lately and after handling the S&W Shield in 9mm, I decided that I wanted one. So I went to the LGS tonight to pick one up and started to get the revolver itch as well. I had a S&W model 620 a while back and sold it to fund a different purchase. I still have the components and gear to reload .38 Special so I said, why not, let's look at revolvers. Well, I ended up bringing home a .38 LCR as well. I can't wait to get to the range and shoot them.

I already had the talon rubber grips and the pearce mag extension that I ordered last week. I still have to get the talon grip for the pearce.

Now to get holsters for both and probably a different front sight for the LCR.

Give us a report on the Ruger after you have shoot it for a time. I helped my neighbor choose one for his "house gun" because it appeared to fit his needs best. I cannot shine onto them after having carried a S&W 36 or 60 as a backup through thirty years of LE. Some of Rugers new offerings with warnings, bunches of safeties and a little flag to suggest your pistol is loaded are a bit difficult for this old guy to take. You will love the Shield, they are quite the performer.

I took both of them to the range tonight for the first time. The Shield functioned flawlessly with my hand loads and some Hornady Critical Defense rounds. I still have to get used to the trigger and keep shooting it so it "breaks in" so to speak. I was shooting decent groups, but they were low and left. I do like the trigger now, but hopefully it will lighten up a hair. I shot about 50 rounds through it tonight.

I shot about 20 rounds through the LCR with some American Eagle ammo. I believe they were 154 grain lead RN. I am still waiting for my shell plate to come in for my LNL AP, so I had to buy a box if I wanted to shoot it tonight.:(

I will say that it is a snappy little thing and not too enjoyable to shoot with that ammo. Although, I did know the recoil would be very pronounced due to it's size and weight. It was not purchased to be a target gun, but I will work up a lighter load for practice. I do look forward to carrying it on occasion because it is so light. I will definitely have to do something about the front sight. It only has a black front ramp. I am going to try to put some glow-on paint on it to se if that helps. If not, I will need to buy a new one. I was not very accurate with it this first time out, but I am also unfamilair with the double action trigger pull. I know it is light compared to others I have tried, but it will take some getting used to.

So, all in all, it was a successful night at the range. 2 new guns that function flawlessly, my shooting greatly improved with my XD9SC that I just did some work to, and my Sig P238 is broken in and running very smooth.
