“ … Well you don’t have to get snippy …”

Reflecting on all that has happened over the past weak … I’m tired.

One thing that keeps coming back to bug me though is the report of the conversation between Gore and Bush when Gore un-conceded ... or recanted … or flip-flopped … or what ever it was early Wed. morning.

Gore to Bush: “ … well you don’t have to get snippy … “

What kind of world leader talks like that?

I have been trying since the moment I heard it to use that phrase myself. An experiment, if you will, to see if I may possibly be judging unfairly and in fact missing a key grouping in my vocabulary. After all, words are power and most days I need all the help I can get. However, I have been unable to find an occasion where I thought the “snippy” phrase would work well. Certainly “snippiness” is more prevalent then I am currently finding.

Anyway; I’m not going to lose my head in all this. The election will work out sooner or latter regardless of my personal level of stress. That being the case I wrote each of my representatives today. Below is what I sent to Mr. Edwards, one of NC’s Senators.

To: Senator Edwards,

As one of your constituents I consider it your duty to stand up for the system we have had for more then 200 years and demand that all parties accept the certified counts from each state when complete. No count should be challenged in the courts by either candidate. If Gore wins Bush must concede. Likewise if Bush wins then Gore must concede. The path that the Gore Campaign is following will undo our system. Senator Edwards … I encourage you, no… I beg you, to stand now as an American in defense of your oath to the Constitution. This is a time for Leadership born of conviction and integrity. The question is: is it a time for you? I hope so.

The vote has been cast and after an accurate counting it must be honored. A re-vote is unacceptable as well as any court challenges.

Put a stop to the destructive rhetoric from your colleagues.

Interesting thought. How about ...

Chamberlain to Hitler .... 'well, you don't have to get snippy ...'

Truman to MacArthur ... 'well, you don't have to get snippy ...'

John to Lorena Bobbitt ... 'well, you don't have to get snippy ...'
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>(you remember ...
John Bobbitt was never a loner.
In fact, he was known as a roamer.
His wife seized his prize
And cut it to size.
Now John is his own organ donor.

Al Gore to Jiang Zemin (following the Chinese conquest of Taiwan, in 2002) ... 'well, you don't have to get snippy ...'

Yeah, I'm gettin' the hang of this. It works. Kinda. ;)
