A couple of years ago I bought my son a Springfield/Savage model 67 20ga. Being a small kid it didn't fit too well so I whacked of about 4" of the stock. Getting ready for the upcoming dove & pheasant season I realized the the stock was now too short for him (he grew a bunch!). Found a laminated 'camo' replacement in the Numrich Gun Parts catalog, it was about 1/2 the price of an original factory stock. The forearm is smaller than the origional and it took a little bit of fitting but no big deal.
Best of all he likes it and quit bugging me for a new gun for this season! (Hey, if anyone gets a new gun, it's Dad's turn!)

I kind of like it. But then, I havn't always been accused of being completely all there. No, really, it looks pretty good.
 
It looks totally cool ... especially for a kid's gun. New wave or something. Can I have it when he's done with it? LOL

Well, I guess I'll never know how well he could handle the new stock. Took it down to the gunshop where I bought it just to show it off. It stayed there and a new Benelli Nova came home with me. Son takes posession of my 870 12ga.

I bet the younsters would all think those paint jobs are cool. I think all of you ought to get your guns painted "pscho-delic" as a recruiting tool. For the good of the sport.:)

I probably have children older than Mike Irvin but I like the idea. Sure it is not traditional, but it doesn't affect the operation. If it makes the operator feel more insync with his gun it is probably a good idea. then it IS art.
 
People have decorated their weapons since chipped flint was state of the art. If you like it, fine.

Personally, I rank badmouthing someone's shotgun as risky as talking about his choice of spouse.

One local Sporting type likes a Fluorescent pink stock and forearm on his clay busting Beretta auto. More power to him....
 
I'm not sure Dave, I think most folks would take more offense at their shotgun being criticized than their spouse. Disrespecting someones shotgun could be almost as bad as disparaging their bird dog! I was just joking above about painting up your stocks, I don't care what you shoot as long as you don't shoot me. I've always liked the traditional pretty wood, but since I've started shooting IPSC pistol the flashy stuff is growing on me, and there ARE reasons why the IPSC guys do it that way. Namely, to make the anti's realize that it IS a game.
 
Dogs,shotguns and spouses are all sacrosanct, IMO.

As for the IPSC folks, and others with flashy firearms, gamer guns have different rules.....

I'm more conservative than some. Suits run to banker type pinstripes, no pink shirts or ties, etc. My guns follow.

But, whatever floats your boat.
