Well-Regulated Militia

How many times have we heard this isn’t for the average citizen?
A strong military is the best way for us to keep the US the greatest country in the world. I think it was the Swiss that kept Hitler at bay by having weapons in practically every home. If another country wants to invade the US it knows not only will it have to deal with our military but with the 200 plus million gun owners. I would like to think we will fight along side our brothers and sisters in arms instead of against them. Our government should think about this before it bans us and itself back to the stone age. Together we stand and together we will win.

I don't really think that's even a consideration. Just who is it that even could provide the US military with a reasonable scare if they tried to invade CONUS?

The US politico's know this, so do the foreigners. They'd have to get past the US military FIRST in order to even consider the other issue - you and me with and AR15.

The citizens being armed, at this point, have nothing to do with military strategy. But it does have to do with political strategy, as we see, on a daily basis.

Remember, thig gun control drivel is not and never will be abot public safety, it's all about making it an election issue - scare the sheeple and they'll vote for "protection".

The thing about it that worries me is that so many Americans, even some gun owners, scoff or completely disregard the "militia ideal", yet support the degrading of our standing regular armies while encouraging the unprecedented buildup of standing "home soil" armies (BATF et al.) whose sole purpose seems to be to make war against the American people...often for breaking the spirit of some minor part of a ridiculous law designed to criminalize otherwise law-abiding people. Or hurting Janet Reno's feelings.

There's a reason the founders preferred militias over standing armies. What better to protect against tyranny? Heck, if enough regular citizens still embraced the militia concept, there probably wouldn't be a BATF to begin with, not to mention an NFA '34, GCA '68, and on down the slippery slope. Those chickens, it would seem, are coming home to roost more and more these days.
