well I just went out and got me a JC Higgins model 20 by high standard. its not that bad of shape just a little ware. the only question I have is when I rack the slide if I don't really slam it into place it doesn't lock back ready to fire is this normal.
 
Doesn't sound right to me.

I thought M20s were renowned for thier "slickness" (or, possibly, "sloppiness").

Mine certainly does not need heavy handling to get it to function properly.

I was going to suggest a deep cleaning... Seems those rub a dub dub... parts in the tub go a long way on finicky pesky guns...
