Well, I got a P226

Well folks, I traded in my Beretta for a first-generation Sig P226...

My choice was pretty much between The 226 and a Walther P99, but after excessive dry-firing, I found I couldn't reconcile with the P99 trigger system.

The last option was another HK USP (my current running favorite), but I couldn't justify getting two USPs, as I'm not exactly proficient as a Chow Yun-Fat shooter :)

I also had a chance to get a P220 in 9mm that was made specially for the Canadian armed forces, but I was turned off by the lack of quality (magazine wouldn't drop, finish was poor, etc)

Overall, I'm happy with my decision, and in 3 weeks (ridiculous Canadian registry system), I'll see what it's like to be part of the Sig collective (assuming I don't change my mind yet again and get that second USP :D)

Another congrat's on your purchase of a Sig P226,

you now own one of the finest 9m/m's in the world. You
will find that accuracy and reliability are the two
most important factor's associated with this firearm.
Both are so great as to cause owner's of the P226
to yearn for it's compact brother, the P228. Shoot
straight and have fun. Enjoy-

You have a great gun. I too went from Beretta 92 to Sig 226. If anyone has a Beretta, and thinks its the greatest gun ever made, more power to them. However, I prefer the Sig and find that I shoot better with it. My problem is that I now have a 226 and a 228 as well as a 225 and a 239. For some folks that would not be a bad problem to have but I lay awake at nights trying to determine which one is best! All are out the box stock except for adding Trijicon night sights to each one. Out of the box, the 228 and the 239 have the best triggers. But the 226 still shoots like a dream and the 225 is great.

I did not realize that the Canadian armed forces were issued 220's in 9mm. When did they get away from Hi-Powers? By the way, I lost a bet and bought a round of beers about Sig 220's.
The question was, what caliber have more 220's been made for? Applying my own observations, I said .45 of course! But far more have been shipped in 9mm to armed forces around the world. Live and learn.

I know that you will enjoy your 226.
