Well, I bought the H&R 949,,,
After I gave it a thorough check for function.

As always, the Evil Pawn Shop Guy gave me a buy-back option if it won't fire.

The grips have seen better days though,,,
Someone scratched a name into them.

Not too deeply though so I think I can sand them out,,,
They definitely need a strip and refinish job.

I got it for $175 + tax,,,
Out the door the total was $190.42

I believe it will pair up with my old Mossie just fine.

Now I hafta start work on a field holster for her,,,
And get her all cased up with the rifle.

You have a solid shooter that will most likely outlast you. And for me, the best kind. Its already got some honest wear and personality, so no need to baby it and keep it in the safe. Carry it about and shoot it!

I had a 49'r for many years. Was plenty accurate. Tought my daughters how to shoot with it. I traded it a few years ago for a Browning Buckmark to a guy that wanted a trapline gun, and the buckmark wasn't up to the task like a revolver. I traded off the buckmark, and wish I had the 49'r back.

This is my second H&R revolver,,,

I also have a Model 922.

It's a bit unusual though,,,
It has a 3 digit serial number starting with the letter E.

According to a gentleman on another forum,,,
The E tells us it was made in 1944,,,
So it's a WW-II vintage gun.

This little shooter is extremely accurate,,,
A young friend who shoots Bullseye tried it out,,,
At 25 yards he was cutting the center out of a 2" circle.

But the oddest thing is that it has a "free wheeling" cylinder,,,
Apparently this was changed in late 40's or early 50's,,,
The cylinder will turn when the hammer is down.

But I like it well enough as a range plinker,,,
And I have it Paired up with a Western-Field 815 (Mossie 320) rifle.

I do like my paired sets. :o

Now I need to make a field style holster for the revolver.

I got a 949 "49er" in trade a few years ago. Mine is in good shape and functions fine but shoots a little high. Dont shoot it that much anymore since I bought a rough rider but get it out 2-3 times a year so I can shoot/clean it.

I have a Sportsman, too. Real nice old gun, it came with an original 1953-dated DC pistol permit. Thinking about selling it and getting another Single Seven. Or maybe build an AR upper in 25-45 Sharps.
Decisions, decisions.

Bbrrr,,, too danged cold for range time.

Bbrrr,,, too danged cold for range time.

All I've been able to do is run 18 rounds through it,,,
Just to ensure it functions properly.

I was shaking so badly from the cold,,,
I probably missed the ground.

But it works in DA and SA,,,
So I'm happy.
