Welcome a new addition to my family!

Please help me welcome my newest family member...

My S&W Model 58 blued 4" .41 Magnum!

I got it home this evening.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTT!

But, the problem is, how in the hell do I feed this thing economically until I can get a loading set up?

The local sporting goods store had 1, count'em 1, box of .41 ammo, 20 rounds, $21!!!

Mike,

Congratulations on your new toy!

I can't help you with the ammo price problem. I got the same shock when I looked for ammo last year, for my then new .45 Colt Blackhawk! :)

Lord those big bores are expensive!

Got two blue, one nickeled, and till I find another 58, a blue 4" 57.

Used to shoot them 25 years ago at age 25 with full power jsp from Rem/chester. Was younger and vastly more stupid then. When you go shooting, bandage up the web of your hand at the backstrap beforehand so that when the recoil pounds the web into bleeding you don't get any blood on the blueing.

Back then, still had the old, soft swc lead bullets - a box or two of those, and the bore is completely lead plated ( mumbles something about cleaning the augean stables being easier ).

Silvertips are supposed to be a 3/4 load. Yeah, sure. 3/4ths the power and 7/8ths the recoil.

Aluminum cased CCI Blazers. 1/2 jacketed lead semiwadcutter hollow points. Can't be reloaded, but they are loaded as usefully as they come.

Looks like a pregnant model 10 doesn't it? Sure feels comfortable in the cold and dark though. And they make humongous fixed rear sights to replace the adjustable ones with someday. Enjoy.

Too bad they won't make it in 45AR/ACP/Super.
Or in 40 s&w/10mm. Or even 44 mag.

The 41 is fine. Still, the wheel is turning but the hampster is dead.

The short answer? You can't.

Thanks, everyone.

Jim, I was afraid someone was going to say that.

It's just not popular enough for the glut of ammo to drive prices down like 9mm or 45... Sigh.
