Weird happening at the gun shop today...

I was picking up my newest pack member, a Model 19 6", when another gun called me...

This one was kind of strange.

Because it wasn't a Smith & Wesson...

It was a Colt, Model 1893, in .38 Long Colt...

The finish was kind of rough, but the grips were in good shape, the barrel was pretty crips, and it wasn't too abused. Lock-up was kind of spotty, though, and it would have needed some timing work...

But it still called to me.

Any of you who know me know how odd that is. Colts normally don't call to me. In fact, I've NEVER had a Colt revolver call to me before...

I had to resist the temptation, though, because as luck (or bad luck) would have it, my refrigerator is crapping out, and I'm going shopping tomorrow.

But I still don't understand it.

It's nothing like what normally calls to me...

After the Guess What thread I was wondering if you had come home with a Ruger. I know you've mentioned Ruger before. . .
;)

The Mamas & The Papas
yup
Colt revolvers remind me of the Mamas & The Papas

Either they're sleek and slick like Michelle Phillips or bloated and big like Cass.

T O O Strange, Mike

Almost ALL of my guns are S&W but last week I bid on the very same piece you are describing and was SICK to my stomach when I didn't 'win' it................dewey

Mike, you only really need to be concerned if you flip through a magazine, see a photo of Antonio Banderas and think to yourself "Wow...he looks kinda hot."

Going both ways with revolver brands is not nearly so big of a social/personal issue. :D

;)

Mike

While REVOLVERs were only made by S&W, I have on one or two occasions heard a Colt call my name. A few have actually attached themselves to me or followed me home. I know it's not the kind of thing you normally admit in polite company, but I felt sorry for them and gave them shelter.

But I only shoot them at night or at a range where there is no one close by.

Yeah, well, the fridge seems to be working OK, so I'm not going to replace it just yet.

Let's see how long it soldiers on...

Of course, I'm going to Pennsylvania this weekend. I'm sure I'll come back to one nasty, nasty, mess the way my luck has been going. :)

yeah, but you'll also probably come back with about three new finds the way your luck's been going.

Mike

Leave some for the rest of us!
