FC is Federal. Perfectly good brass. Looks like someone partially sized a case.
Whatever caused that appearance, it will disappear when you size and expand the case during reloading.

I'm not sure from the picture, but it might have been fired in an H&K pistol with a stepped chamber. I reload 9mm brass fired in H&K stepped chambers all the time with no problems. The body of the case is not overly stretched. The mouth is actually stretched less than in other chambers. It resizes just fine.

'FC' is also used by Prvi and Departmento de la Industrial Militar, Mexico City, Mexico.
Those wee dents are nothing to worry about though.

Thats interesting never seen my p30 or my usp comp do that to brass. Picked up a vp9 and half a yr ago. Wonder if thats whats doing it

Someone tried to size a 9mm in a 380 die?
Someone tried to size a 9mm in a steal die without lube?
What does it look like after going through a 9mm die?

H&K pistol with a stepped chamber. P30.

My Walther PPS has a similar reduced stepped chamber, but only about 1/4 as deep. Just reload as normal.

My P30 and P2000SK, both 9mm, have stepped chambers and spit out brass like the OP's. Can't speak for the 40S&W.

243winxb Good call, never heard of that before, any reason why?
I understand the HK and the marks that my semi MP5 makes along the length of the case but that is strange.
Thanks for clearing that up
