Went with Dave Park to bull run. Started out with a rental Fabarms O/U on the wobble trap. Got 10/25 =(. Next round went with my 870 w/ 21" barrel. Went 17/25. I need to do this more. Alot more.

Thanks to Dave for helping me out. It was a pleasure shooting with you.

I now want to either get a new barrel for my shotgun and possibly new furniture, or an altogther new shotgun for trap and skeet. Would I use 3" shells in trap and skeet? I don't know which direction to go.

Trap and skeet stick with 2 3/4, your limited to a max of 1 1/8 oz of shot, no larger than shot size # 7.5. Gun fit is important, so if your gun fits stick with it. Apparent lead seems shorter with a bbl of 26" or 28". 3" chamber is fine, gives versatility from clays to hunting applications ( I recommend 3" for this reason). Also believe in "shoot one gun/platform and know it". BIg Believer in pattern boards, skeet 21 yds, trap 40 yds. Screw in chokes a plus, change game , change choke. What else--oh yeah focus on leading edge of target and HAVE FUN!!!

Glad you had fun, a coupla things....

17/25 on wobble is a great starting score. It sounds like your shotgun fits you well enough for now. Stay with it, use it as is for a year. Then, you'll be in a much better place to decide what needs changing to improve your shooting. And as much fun as getting a specialized trap or skeet gun can be, stick with this one until it's a body part and not a tool you hold. You'll progress faster...

2 3/4" shells are what you need here and for all trap and skeet.Heavy/hot loads here are egregious.
I'd go with a 2 3/4 dram equivalent, 1 oz load just to keep the kick down. You can use 8s or 7 1/2s at first, pattern with both and see which patterns more evenly.

Now buy ammo, use up, repeat.

Second the motion to stick with what is workin. Sounds like it fits pretty well.

Also second the motion to use 1oz (or lighter) loads.

Get good before you get fancy. Learnin curve will be steeper.
