Weaver Classic V vs. Nikon buckmaster

I got a new AR for Christmas, its a flat top with a 20 in. bull barrel it will be used for varmit hunting and target shooting. I am noobie to scope purchasing. I would apreciate any oppions. I am really pumped and can't wait to get a scope for it.

Thanks in advance, if anybody else has any others they would like to add in the $300 range, I would like it to go up to at least 16x.

thanks

I just put together a long range rifle and after an exhausting search and learning about scopes I went with a Nikon Buckmaster. It has adjustable paralax and finger adjusments but it is 4.5x-14x. I think the 14x would be enough for you. Another scope that is good for cheap is the newer Mueller's. You can get the one up to 16x for like $179 and the one up to 24x for $229 I think. Check them out. I paid $279 for my Nikon.

Thank you very much for your reply. How did you ever choose there are just so many options out there. Is the buckmaster better than the leupold rifleman in your oppinion?

thanks

Buckmasters are very good for the money.

The new 6-18X40 with side focus is a really nice scope. It's running a little over your budget at $350, but I really like the side focus feature. The previous Buckmaster 6-18X40 with the standard adjustible objective is on closeout at several on line suppliers in the $275 range.

I own or have owned several Nikon scopes, Buckmasters, Monarchs and one Tactical. No issues with any, pleased with all.

Be sure to budget enough for a decent set of rings. I like the Burris Signature Zee with the inserts. Warne Maxima rings are good for the money as well.

Take Care

thanks

I think I am leaning towards the Nikon nobody has had anything bad to say about them. I'm still looking though.

Glad I could help. In my search, found that the Leupold Rifleman and VXIII I think was the other that was junk. They sold the Rifleman at Walmart. Not that their total junk I'm sure but not what you pay for and not up to Leupold standards. I did exhaustive research and NOBODY said anything bad about the Nikon Bushmaster. Let us know what you decide, keep researching so you feel good about your decision. It will start fogging your mind after a while thought!

The most scope for the money is the Nikon in my opinoin. ALL of the Nikon scopes are quality. The Leupold scopes are always a good bet as well.
