Weatherby

Would like any opinions on the overall quality of Weatherby shotguns. Particularly interested in the PA-459 Threat Response model (20 gauge semi-auto). Comparable model would be the Mossberg SA-20. Thanks.

Weatherby PA's are pumps, SA's are semi-auto's. The Mossberg you mentioned is a semi so you are comparing apples to oranges.

I do have two SA-08's though and think they are great shotguns.

Sorry about that, I meant to say Weatherby SA-459 Threat Response. All the tactical 20 gauge semi auto shotguns appear to be made in Turkey. I also found a brand new model by Escort, it's called the Gladius. My focus was more on the Mossy SA-20 and Weatherby SA-459. There is very little info about any of these guns out there. I guess they are not big sellers.

I bought a SA-20 and got Mossberg to buy it back from me because it had issues. In fairness to Mossberg I'm not judging them on one firearm because every company shoots out a lemon occasionally. As stated previously my issue with Mossberg is customer service. The SA-08 and SA-20 are supposedly made at the same factory which I believe. There is some parts interchangeability. But they are made to a different price point and having owned both the Weatherby is a much nicer shotgun. Just my opinion.
