Weatherby Vanguard $349

Good rifles for the money. I'd buy one at that price if I needed another. They are a little heavier than I prefer, but I have 1 Vanguard, and 1 Howa (basically the same rifle) in custom stocks to help with weight reduction. They are good solid shooters.

That's what I paid for my last one, $349 is about as good as it gets for those, same price as gunbroker without shipping and transfer cost.

Earlier this year, my lgs was selling nib Vanguards for $299.99-but only chambered in .257 Weatherby Magnum. Five boxes of that stuff costs more than the rifle did. :(

I just called them here in Chattanooga. The only large game calibers left are .257 and .300 weatherby magnums.

Check with Academy Sports. They might be $399, (still a bargain).

I'm betting they get in a bunch very shortly to run at a special price prior to deer season. Great rifles, but I have no need for one in those calibers. Although I will say that if I were going the Weatherby route I'd consider it in a magnum chambering. The guns are about the heaviest of all production guns, buying one in 243, etc don't make a lot of sense because there are lots of lightweight guns in that caliber. Mine is in 7mm Rem mag.

i have 3 weatherby vanguards in 300 win mag, 7mm rem mag and 243. they are excellent rifles that are normaly priced from $399 to $449 at my local sportsmans warehouse. i would like to add a 257 weatherby myself but the ammo is expensive unless you reload. $349 is a very good price.

I have one of its twin (Howa) but it is the Custom Varmint and I REALLY like it. Especially, considering the price.

The Weatherby Vanguard uses the Howa 1500 action...
Good buy for the $$, and even though they're a "budget" action, most consider them good enough as a "base" to upgrade (= spend $$) accurizing for a long-range stick.

That's a good price, grab it ! I have one in .223 cal. purchased as a production-selected "Sub-MOA" rifle priced a lot higher than $349.
Mine lives up to the ad on three shots from a cold barrel at 100 yards with regular production PMC ammo.

Heck yeah!! that's what I gave for my 7mm Rem Mag, at the wally world here in Independence MO. This rifle shoots less than half MOA with Hornady Custom ammo, and moa with MY handloads so far. I'm still working up some different bullet and powder combos, but the answer is definatley YES it's worth it!!;)
