How does the weatherby Orion compare to others, such as Browning 525, Berreta 682, 686, ect.? New prices seem to be close on simular models, same trim, however the Weatherby used seems to sale for considerably less localy!.

Things change over time ....and Weatherby isn't the same quality gun it was 30yrs ago unfortunately.

The used market pricing .....is a very good indication of the long term quality of most guns / desireability on the used market. If the Weatherby was as highly thought of as a Browning 525 - on the used market - it would retain its value.

Having said that ( and I'm a big Browning fan - own over a dozen ) but the 525 and 625, while beautiful guns, have a lot of fit issues for many shooters - too much drop at heel, too much drop at comb ......and in general, the 525 series, does not do very well on the used market / compared to the XS Skeet model especially - which will fit a lot of shooters especially if it has the adj comb.

Weatherby Orion models are made by SKB. The overall consensus is that these are very well made guns, but don't have the following or the resale value of a Beretta or Browning. If you like the design and these guns fit you and swing well for you, look also for the SKB made Ithacas, which you can find used for good values.

I wouldn't say there is a consensus that SKB's are well made ....
Serviceable, in my opinion .....is a better description.

It isn't the Browning or Beretta name that make them strong guns / or give them better long term value in the used market... its the fact that they stand up over the long term.

But everybody should buy and shoot what they like / what fits them best / and what they consider the best buy for their dollar.
