Wear mark on 1911 hammer

I'm shooting a 1911 Colt New Agent in 45acp . Looking at the hammer ,as the slide comes back an cocks the hammer there is a wear mark on the left side only , l would think it should be straight across the hammer not just one spot . Works fine , should I just let it even off by itself or should I level it off ?

It takes next to nothing to create a wear Mark with steel rubbing steel.

It's a fact that every gun develops wear marks in various places, and unless you can see an obvious flaw in function or mfg, it is normal and should be ignored.

Thanks for answering my post . The gun functions just fine , the slide and hammer are doing the job , feel it's part of a break in period when two parts come together . Just wanted to make sure it wasn't putting pressure on one side of the handgun .

Briandg answered fully, the metal will mate with other parts creating marks or shiney spots until the irregularities smooth.

Thanks for answering . I just wanted to make sure , was thinking of lightly filing the high spot but I will leave it alone .
Thanks again , Chris

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Gun is new, still "wearing in". As long as everything works correctly, don't "fix" it. Come back in 500 or 1,000 rnds and see if that wear on only one side hasn't changed to "wear all the way across".

And, even if it doesn't, as long as it works right, its not an issue.

Thanks for answering . I will let it even off on it's own . The gun operates 100% an want to keep it that way . Thanks again , Chris
