this just happened we was out shooting an one of my friends took a couple ricochet rounds. they was shooting at steel plates an we was using military surplus 7.62x54R rounds. he had one round graze his head an one actually penatrated his stomach. we pulled the round out of his stomach an i know some first response an i cleaned it with hydro peroxide an poured 90% alcohol on both his head an stomach. is there anything we should be worried about the rounds? i think they are a steel core.

Glad everyone's okay, but...

It seems kind of obvious to me, but I'll say it:
I guess the real question would be "how did this happen twice?"

Yes I also would have changed somethin after the first richochet. I dont think there is nothin to worry bout except maybe your friend got shot twice. I would have went to the hospital prolly.

it happened twice cause when he got his head scrapped he didnt say nothin till he took one into the stomach an we looked an he had a little blood in his hair too.

Rifle Bullets don't bounce off paper targets. I don't shoot steel under 100 yards with my rifles.

If you must, angle the targets so they will be directed down. It doesn't take much of an angle.

we was shootin threw 1/4-1/2 inch steel plates but i guess he found a spot that was re-enforced with support rods an the rounds couldn't penatrate threw.
