This just in from Paul Moog at Virginia Citizens Defense League, Inc. (VCDL). I clipped the Alert notice as space saver.

Virginia Gunowners and Fauquier County Residents!

The Fauquier Board of Supervisors voted to register all Concealed Handgun Permit applicants with the FBI at their June 19, 2000 meeting.

They decided to ignore the dozens of citizens who showed up at the public hearing to oppose Sheriff Joe Higg's fingerprinting
& gunowner registration scheme.

Unfortunately for the citizens of Fauquier county the majority of politicians voted to support Janet Reno's & Sheriff Joe Higg's
federal registration agenda.

It should be noted that Center District Supervisor Joe Winkelmann, (540) 347-8648, winkelmann@erols.com listened to gunowners and voted to protect gunowner rights.
Let Supervisor Winklelman know that you appreciate his principled stand for your rights! ... "[/quote]

Maybe you'd like to join me in a thanks to Joe Winklemann - he's not in my jurisdiction but he's defending the right rights. Who knows, he may be in congress some day.

Andy

FYI: www.vcdl.org carries some good source material.

Just sent out an e-mail to a couple dozen Virginians, andyb. Hope to generate some responses for you.

Drop me an e-mail if you'd like for me to add you to the Virginia Tyranny Response Team mailing list.

The good people of that county oughta vote those communistnazi politicians and sheriff outta office! But, it probably won't happen.

The Sheriff will be more than happy to send his deputies out to murder the county citizens when his Lord & Master in the Red House orders him to confiscate the firearms of the serfs and peasants. Afterall, the reeve of the shire always follows the orders of the King.

Update:
My email to Fauquier Board Supervisor Joe Winkelmann - To: winkelmann@erols.com
Subject: Thank you, sir.

Re: Paul Moog's VCDL VA-ALERT mail list.

Mr. Winkelmann, thank you for your support of gun owners and OUR (yours and mine - and their) 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear
arms.

One day, we hope, folks will wake up to the fact that when the people's constitutional rights are diluted to insignificance, the
people will have nothing to base law upon other than the agendas and the whims of others.

Thanks again.

Mr. Winkelmann's reply:

thanks for your kind note -- I appreciate your moral support & just wish we could have prevailed.

I hate government record-gathering of any form, but doesn't the FBI already create a file on you when your state government checks you out for a CC permit? Or are Virginia background checks for CC permits done differently than they are here in NC?

Heck, I assume that simply posting to this forum is enough to create an FBI file on any of us who don't already have them.

David,
It appears to be the same here. Check line 20 at http://www.packing.org/letters/virginia_application_sp-248.pdf.

Kind of doesn't matter to me anymore - between naval service and gov't contractor (retired now) they have several sets of my prints. If they could photo-age them as they can with pictures, they'd know now what my prints would look like in 3015. 'Course I wouldn't be here, right? :)

But you're right ... the more "files" they have the more we'll be in harm's way when, as, and if the SHTF.

BTW, I heard on radio yesterday the Senate passed the (sorry - brain bubble) bill and that is actually allows policing of thoughts - Thought Control. So if it becomes law, they can nail us for having the wrong thoughts in addition to whatever we "did wrong". We DO have some wierd thinking "representatives", don't we?

Cest la vie.
