We all sleep with one, but where's it at when you're not sleeping?

Onslaught

I think it's safe to say that all TFL'ers sleep with a gun on the nightstand or very nearby, most of them in condition one. That's where mine stays, 9 rounds of .45 in the mag, but nuthin in the pipe...

So where's the gun when you're at work? Do you take it out of the nightstand and lock it up EVERY morning before you leave?

Of course, if your nightstand gun is the same as your carry gun, then it's a no brainer. But, if it's not, and you didn't lock it up today, and somebody breaks in to your house, WORST CASE SCENARIO of course, Won't they look in the nightstand drawer first?

It stays in the nightstand, and the shotgun stays under the bed.

I'm single, no kids.

Just two dogs.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Right now, an H&P USP .45 Tactcal (10 rounds of 230 grain HydraShok) is in my nightstand. With no children left at home, this is a safe option.

Single, no kids, so in the bedside drawer it stays with a full magazine and an empty chamber. Carry at work is not a legal option, nor is keeping a firearm in the vehicle on work grounds (not only is it against policy, it is a felony). So while I am at work, my handgun stays beside my bed unlocked. The moment I walk in the door, I rack the slide, slip on my holster, and start carrying. Perhaps I should worry about walking into my apartment and being shot by a perp with my unlocked gun, but I haven't worried about that yet. Until now...

Mine stays under my futon in an IWB holster modified to attach to the bed frame. If you lift the blanket you can't see it. but I can reach up and under my frame and draw it out.
I came up with idea because I'm concerned with getting a firearm stolen. It's "hidden" but easily accessable.

When I'm not carrying it, it's in the safe, with everything else. I don't have kids, but here's my feelings. Sure, if the kids next door were to break in and steal the guns, at least in this state I'd probably be alright legally. However, if one of those kids hurt their self, I'd feel really awful, evenif it were their fault. Also, I'd hate to have my guns roaming the streets in the hands of people who would break into a house. If it's not on me, it's in the safe.

married, no kids
Upstairs guns:
S&W model 66 under the bed.
Wife has S&W model 65 LS in night stand.
S&W model 686 hidden in bedroom closet.

Downstairs guns:
Autauga .32 hidden in kitchen till it's put in back pocket for daily carry.
Kel-tec P-32 hidden in kitchen also.

Rest are hidden/locked away, unloaded.

On my hip. My wife's .38 goes in her special purse.

Country Boy, just a bit of advice. Be aware that the very first place a burglar goes, is to your bedroom where he (or she), starts tossing everything. They're looking for cash, jewelry, and ........ GUNS!

1911A1 kept on desk while I sleep a few feet away. This is far enough to prevent any sleepwalking discharges but close enough to get to it quickly.

On the trip to work, it's on my belt. Once at work, it's locked in my center console when I switch to my duty rig.

It's always condition one.

When Reason Fails.....

All my guns are locked up when I'm not around and I have the keys to them. If its not "in use" its locked up.. triggerlocks at a minimum in the safe is better.

I DO worry about someone stealing my guns more than having to use my guns to defend myself.

Married, with a 3yr old.

Gun is under Bed in Quick-lock safe with two magazines full. Mixture of 135-165 grain JHP. Each magazine has each type. I figure if one type doesn't work I'll try another. Gun is Loaded, with one in the chamber, 10 in the magazine, and decocked (SIG-PRO). My daughter doesn't even know we have it yet. I will teach her when she gets older. I just don't need her telling everyone that Daddy has a gun

If it is not on me, it is in the safe or right next to me.

I was wondering when somebody was gonna slip that one in! :p And it was none of the usual suspects either!

Good job Kevlar!

Not meant as a flame, but I am curious as to why some people feel it necessary to wear a holstered gun around the house?

I've got 2 in the nightstand, and I work out of my house. One stays with me in the office, too. No kids. One comes with me when I leave the house, and the rest stay in their respective places.
