Wathler P99 Sights

I was out shooting the other day and decided that the gun (or I) was shooting to the left a little. When I turned the screw on the sight, I pushed the pin down that holds the screw and out poped the sights. This amazed me because I wasn't sure if they were supposed to just come out like that. Does anyone know if they are supposed to come out like that.

Muzzletalk,

Yes, that is the way that the rear sight comes out. The adjustment screw rides on that pin, and as you found out, when it turns on its apex, there isn't much holding it in. That's why you want to turn it until the pin is in contact with the flat for normal use. It also pays to keep some pressure on the opposite side of the sight when adjusting.

This design works well, and should you ever decide to change sights, it makes it very easy for an average person to do. No down time or extra cost. Be careful that you don't loose the pin or the small spring underneath it.
