Washington State Primary

I cast the most uninformed votes for the various judges. Usually I look at who endoreses them, but that's not always the best method. I was hoping to find something on SAF or GOA for judicial races, but haven't managed to find anything.

Does anyone in WA have any information (links or personal knowledge) for the WA State Supreme Court candidates? Appreciate your help and input.

On another notes, did you know that the new affiliation primaries in WA are a result of an injunction imposed by U.S. District Judge Jack Tanner? Name sound familiar? :barf:

My friend Craig Keller sent this out. Hope this helps.

Dear Fellow Republicans and Citizen-Voters,

I try to pay attention. Below is how I will mark my ballot at the polls on Tuesday.

Proudly Republican,
Craig Keller
(206) 935-4625

Governor – Dino Rossi Of course!
Lt. Governor – Jim Wiest Wiest’s seems to be the only one with Olympia experience which will be helpful as Senate presiding officer.
Secretary of State – Sam Reed. A competent administrator, but unfortunately the only Republican option. Unfortunate due to his short-sighted obsession support of a destructive increase of mail and electronic balloting.
State Auditor – Kent Wales (Write in name and color in oval.) Wales is retired military with auditing experience. Will Baker has hijacked this ballot position for personal reasons.
Attorney General – Rob McKenna McKenna is the bonified Republican running against a person who more often than not opposes Republican priorities of limited taxation and protection of private property interests.
Commissioner of Public Lands – Doug Sutherland A committed public servant who is managing public lands for the benefit of all taxpayers and not just for those who seek to lock up the forests for themselves.
Insurance Commissioner – Curt Fackler Mr. Fackler has actively sought the support of Republicans at County and State Conventions. No sight has been seen of the two opponents.
34th District Legislature, Position 1 – Savun Neang. Mr. Neang is a small business entrepreneur with a computer repair business at the corner of Roxbury and 16th Ave. S.W. His business is in the heart of White Center so he knows of the threats of crime and indolence to our community. Mr. Neang will defend traditional marriage and family in our legislature.
34th District Legislature, Postion 2 – Paul Byrne. Mr. Byrne is an experienced PTA officer and school volunteer, veteran and Boeing employee. Mr. Byrne will defend traditional marriage and family in our legislature.
Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction – Juanite Doyon Juanita possesses the independence to serve students and parents first, with a focus on traditional teacher-student curriculum while de-emphasizing recent overkill on “high stakes” testing. The choice of many across partisan lines. Endorsed by Republican Harld Hochstetter.
Washington State Supreme Court, Position 1 – Jim Johnson Neither did the KCRP or the WSRP endorse Johnson. This was due to Johnson's support of the Grange's attempt to kill this new and more honest primary system with their initiative. All the same, Jim Johnson is a really terrific defender of the taxpayer as evidenced by his penning language for several "Eyman" property tax relief initiatives.
Washington State Supreme Court, Position 5 - Justice Barbara Madsen (Endorsed by KCRP & WSRP) I have been impressed with Madsen’s judicial demeanor. She listens to and questions oral arguments intently and objectively in the quest for foundational basis.
Washington State Supreme Court, Position 6 - Justice Richard Sanders (Endorsed by KCRP & WSRP) Protector of individual rights over the secondary “rights” granted to the government. Disappoints in his opposition to “3-strikes your out” imprisonment of 3-time violent felones. Know for exercising his First Amendment expression by attending and speaking at annual Life rally.
King County Court of Appeals, Div. 1, Dist. 1, Pos. 1 - Ken Grosse (Endorsed by KCRP) But I am withholding judgment until Monday’s WA St. Court of Appeals ruling, hopefully to reverse Gonzales’ ruling the Monorail Recall was “illegal.”
King County Superior Court position 13 - David Larson (Endorsed by KCRP) I observe that Larson was narrowly defeated two years ago by Steven Gonzales, the same Gonzales whose ruling stands that Monorailrecall initiative is "illegal" on his argument that Growth Mgmt. Act makes this bit of social engineering (read: more communal living and no cars!) an "essential facility” in furtherance of the Growth Management Act. Now Gonzales and many Democrats endorse Larson's opponent. Dave Larson’s an active Republican. At King Co. Council Larson was one who argued against Ron Sims’ plan to place growth restrictions on rural churches and schools. Republicans can vote for Larson without reservation.
King County Superior Court, Position 23 – Andrea Darvas (Not endorsed by KCRP, but local Republican advice is that she is the least of three “evils.” She is a serious campaigner.
King County Superior Court position 42 - Chris Washington (Endorsed by KCRP)
King County Superior Court position 45 - Jim Rogers (Endorsed by KCRP)
Seattle Regular Tax Levy including Families and Education – NO. Levy nearly doubles tax to $3.20/$1000 of assessed value. Vague spending with little results evaluation. Limited tax dollars in Seattle will be more productively directed to transportation improvements which may not get done when competing against the expansion of free daycare for children from birth.

Oops! Forgot to mention the obvious choices in the federal races:

U.S. Senate George Nethercutt
U.S. Congress, 7th CD Carol Cassady (Trying to replace "Jihad" Jim McDermott the useful idiot of Baghdad [I, Fred added this part])
