The new printed regulations leave some confusion about the muzzle loading restrictions, and many of the definitions are un-clear.

A phone call to the Olympia office netted this info, which I hope helps some others, too:

Although not specifically named in the printed regs, 209 primers are illegal.

Closed breech (inline) rifles must use number 10,11, or musket caps to be legal.

Fiber optic sights are legal. Scopes, red dots, led's, etc. are not.

For the big game requirement: a slug with a plastic sabot in a .50 caliber rifle DOES NOT meet the legal requirements. It must be a solid, one peice, .50 caliber projectile, weighing at least 170 grains.
( I was informed that there may be some leeway on this, depending on the enforcing officer, but better safe than sorry.)

Although the likelihood of an equipment inspection has been (for me at least) unlikely in the past, you never know.

Hope this helps some of you guys prepare.
