Washington State Drops Tennessee!

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has posted a new list of states that Washington will honor. Tennessee has been removed from that listing. At the link below you can see that listing and scroll down the listing you will see he states:

Tennessee No Allows persons under 21-yrs-old to have license.

http://www.atg.wa.gov/concealed-weapon-reciprocity

Tennessee will continue to honor Washington as Tennessee honors all other states permit/licenses.

Bob Ferguson is gonna be big trouble for us. He is already moving on an "assault weapons" ban. And in this state it will pass if sent to the voters. King/Sno/Peirce counties will carry it for the rest of the state.

Perhaps we need an state level electoral college.

Wish it were a rogue AG then we could do something. He was just following their law as passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor some years back.

RCW 9.41.073 Concealed Pistol License — Reciprocity.

(1)(a) A person licensed to carry a pistol in a state the laws of which recognize and give effect in that state to a concealed pistol license issued under the laws of the state of Washington is authorized to carry a concealed pistol in this state if:

(i) The licensing state does not issue concealed pistol licenses to persons under twenty-one years of age; and

(ii) The licensing state requires mandatory fingerprint-based background checks of criminal and mental health history for all persons who apply for a concealed pistol license.

Being a firearms instructor here in Florida and instruction CCW classes the AG in Washington state is looking for ANY reason to NOT reciprocate with other states. The law read in Florida that, "you must be 21 years of age UNLESSyou are a service member, as defined in section 250.01 Florida Statutes or you are a veteran of the US Armed Forces who was discharged under honorable conditions. Just an excuse if you ask me. This is the link to 250.01
http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes...ing=&URL=0200-0299/0250/Sections/0250.01.html
From the link Gary supplies with regards to Florida it is the under 21 years of age is why Washington will not honor Florida

Maybe the WA folks should point out how the AG is being disrespectful to Veterans; that might not go over too well.............just a thought

It seems ironic that the home state of the Second Amendment Foundation is gaining strength for gun control.
What is with that?
Are Seattle and Olympia driving politics for the entire state that much?

The tri-county areas of King, Pierce, and Snoqualmie Counties are the three largest metropolitan areas and more than half the population of the state live there. Their vote controls the entire state.
So, yes, the three counties control the state.

Seems like the ballot initiatives just keep coming in Washington. Texas isn't recognized in Washington for the same reason, they allow honorably discharged vets a license if under 21.

Yeah, if it gets much worse in Washington, I'm only 10 miles from Idaho. I think Idaho or Montana are looking better all the time.

Why is this a problem? Washington state law doesn't allow concealed carry for people under the age of 21. If the AG made an exception to that law for residents of Tennessee he would be in effect writing the law. That is a job for the state house and senate, not for the AG.

I don't want government functionaries enacting laws.

The problem isn't that the AG is following the law. The problem is that the law is eliminating reciprocity with several other states over a technicality that affects an infinitesimal number of people, most of whom would probably never visit Washington anyway.

The phrase "throwing the baby out with the bath water" comes to mind.

Yes, and they have been for a long time.

We got that vague and unworkable background check law because the 5 counties in the SeaTac corridor passed it (it didn't pass in any other county in the entire state) with enough numbers to make it law.

washington state drops tennessee

Hard to come up with the money Bloomberg and others have to assault our Rights with.
Firearms Owners, in Washington should start working together, contributing and raising money, for State Senators and Congressmen campaigns.
Essentially it is howw much money can you raise for us to defeat the Democrats/Gun Grabbers.
everyone show up individually, if you are comfortable doing that, wit the legal limit usually 100.00 or a bottle off Jack Black to see your Congressma and Senators. And Gun Clubs, Hunting Clubs, and all the subset fgroups, make appointments to present your case and show your support, and more if they defeat the anti gunners and keep them at bay.
On local levels in small town America, I'm sure there are many Individuals, that would get most of the votes by promising to fight for 2A and other measures. Local Gun Clubs will or should help with money for signs etc and getting signatures to run for office.
In other words, it is time to fight tooth and nail, and start putting the anti gunners back in the corner.

First We are talking about rights, not a government privilege. Our rights are beyond government and we are lawfully allowed to exercise them so long as we don't interfere with the rights of others. The problem that started gun control is that someone decided it was OK for the government to license automatic weapons to make the streets safer. What should have happened was the cost of committing a crime with any weapon demanded a swift and lethal end to the perpetrators life.
That law began a process of restrictions that were deemed "reasonable" to protect the very people who could protect themselves if there was no restriction. Not only is it impossible for any government to protect the individual it is unnecessary because we have the right to protect ourselves and others. The only reasonable and effective gun law is to prosecute those who break the law. You cannot prevent crime, it has to be prosecuted.

Gary, washington.pdf says West Virginia does not honor Washington permits. However, WV is permitless. That doesn't look right. Is WV permitless only for WV residents, like Wyoming?

Even this site's own moderator, Frank Ettin, who is an attorney, has stated more than twice that "all rights are subject to reasonable regulation." This is where I have to respectfully disagree with Frank. The Supreme Court has ruled that other rights in the Bill of Rights are subject to reasonable regulation, but the SCOTUS has never said that specifically about the Second Amendment. And the 2A is the ONLY right in the Bill of Rights that says right in itself that it is NOT subject to regulation -- "reasonable" or otherwise. To say that "shall not be infringed" means anything other than "is not subject to regulation" is, IMHO, intellectually dishonest.

motorhead0922, WV is Permitless Carry but WV does not honor all other states permits. They passed Permitless Carry but never changed their reciprocity law on how they honor other states. I can't put that WV Honors a state permit when they don't.

Maine is the same way. They are permitless carry but they don't honor all other states. It does make a difference as there are places in Maine you can't carry under permitless carry that you can carry if you have a Maine Permit or a permit they honor. Places Like Arcadia Nat Park and Their state parks. So I can't say that Maine honors all other states either as they don't.

That Snohomish county btw.

Washington state is turning into Northern California. They are all moving up here and voting it that way. The Governor makes no qualms about wantimg to be just like California. Im for some progressive civil liberties but this regression to the left is running rampant. The Seattle that built the Alaskan gold rush is gone, the Seattle that fed half the country fresh fish is strangled and turning blue. Amazon is killing this city and surrounding areas. :(
