Wards Western Field .22 Identification

I have an old Wards Western Field .22 bolt action rifle. No serial number or model number marks anywhere. Only mark is a "12" inside of a circle on the barrel. My understanding is that several manufacturers made them for Wards and Sears. I thought it was a Mossberg but now think it is a Marlin. I am trying to locate a replacement magazine but need to identify the make and model. Anyone recognize the make?
