Wants: Remmington with round barrel

Last spring I was at my local Couboy annual shoot and some vendors were there. One guy had a Remy cap and ball pistol that had a shorter round barrel. I was looking at it and the balance felt much better rhat the ones with the long oct barrel. I have a Pieta 1858 and a Uberti 1860 Army and I like the Rem for some reasons but the Rem feels awkward and off balance to hold. I wanted to buy it at the time but I did not need to spend the money since I had just bought a USFA Single Action. latter I was looking on the net and was not able to come up with anything like this pistol. Does anyone own something like this and how do you like it?

Sounds like a Ruger Old Army. It kinda sorta resembles a Remington if you stand far enough away and squint.

I am familar with the Ruger. This was a normal sized rem. It was blued and looked more authentic than the Ruger. It was in a Uburti or Cimmaron box. I don't remember.

Did it still have a loading lever? I guess the balance is a personal thing. My remys balance great for me.

Yes it did. I find the long hex barrels to be barrel end heavy. Especially with the shape of the grip. The 1860 is lighter and had a wider base if the grip so it balances more naturally in my hand.

Round Barrel Remington New Model Army

RPRCA has two Remington New Model Army revolvers in its collection. One is a Proof gun marked Belgiun on butt. The other is standard Remington but with a round barrel. Don't know anything about this revolver. It could be an aftermarket modification. I did, however, see a highly engraved Remington New Model by Navy Arms with a round Barrel. Uberti did several engraved models for Navy Arms that are listed in Navy arms catalogs. The mysteries never cease.
