I live in central indiana (near muncie) and would like to find a defensive pistol course to take that doesn't cost a fortune. I have had my permit for a while and carry and practice regularly but would like more education...so I tried to dig through the stickys about courses but didn't have much sucess..

Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

Also where can I find laymans terms description of the laws in indiana concerning self defense so I can get an idea of what i'm in stake for after the event if I would ever have to use my firearm in self defense. (I have read ayoobs in the gravest extreme but this doesn't cover indiana specifically and is outdated)

Newguy - check out the Boone County Sheriff's Department. Ken Campbell (the sheriff) brings top flight trainers in, and makes the training available to everyone. A friend of mine just took a class from Louis Awerbuck there.

Holy Handguns, NRAhab!! That's awesome!!

Smart guy. The sheriff is probably paying for the training for his deputies by the cost of the training for the non-LE folks attending the class. Or at least taking a big chunk out of it.

I notice Ayoob's roadshow comes through there. I've been meaning to take LFI-I for some time now.

Ayoob's roadshow

That description has me rolling on the floor laughing. :D

I finally took LFI 1 this past year, after wanting to for twenty years. It was money very well spent IMO. Other schools may be more "tacticool" and such but LFI really prepares you for the "aftermath" of a shooting.

Having been Mirandized before and had my actions looked at with a microscope, I can honestly say that this class has better prepared me to survive an encounter. The shooting part is easy. It's the stuff after the shooting that matters.

If you don't believe me, just ask Harold Fish.
