wanting a new rifle

i am looking at the large caliber H&R rifles, i would like either the 45-70 or the .500 S&W but im leaning towards the 44-70. which would you guys prefer? or any of there calibers.

i didn't know if the .500 S&W would have a all around bigger punch then the 45-70 govt.

1885 Winchester high wall chambered in a 45-70 govt, wait a moment? thats what I want. I say the government but thats what I like.

Not to knock your bigger calibers (I have a 1895GS in 45-70) but the .35 whelen is all the craze down here when they opened up those single shots for black powder season. Seems it has better ballistics. If you reload I'd go 45-70 for sure, you can go light with a 300 grain bullet or (if the H&R will handle it) real heavy with 525 grain rounds. I bought a box each of 350, 405, and 525 grain bullets.

Savage makes bolt action slug guns. They'll shoot groups of three that are touching. Hornaday makes a nice ballistic tip slug.

since its a rifle forum i want a rifle if i wanted a slug gun i would of posted in the shotgun forum an i would get a savage bolt action if i got one like that.
