This is the actual screw hole spacing. 1.893 inches If you have a base that meets those numbers, please let me know. Thank you.

I've closed up the workshop today, but I'll poke around in the extra parts ammo can tomorrow. I know I have a base. I have to imagine that it'll fit, since it fits my 39A.

The OP needs to put his ejector screw back in or he's not going to do much shooting. Then he needs to re-measure between the two furthest screws on the receiver top. At that point he'll probably realize that the standard 39A mount will fit like a champ and his worries will be over.

Your cartridge guide spring screw has been removed in that photo - NOT the forward scope mount plug screw.

Measure to the proper hole (the one still plugged), and you'll find that the Weaver #90 (or any other Model 39/39A base) is correct.

Regardless of your apparent mistake....

ALL Model 39s use the same receiver.

If it is a very old 39M, then it wouldn't have had ANY holes drilled and tapped at the factory for mounting a scope. (It would look like this.) If there are holes in it now, then you'll have to figure out what base fits - it's not likely to be a standard base.

But, if it is a newer 39M -which yours appears to be - then it uses exactly the same receiver as the other 39s. Hole spacing and receiver dimensions are the same.

The #90 Weaver has the holes spaced farther apart than this guns holes.

Built in 1982.

Weaver base 39B 48069 will fit. It has two holes with the spacing the OP identified. You might have to cut it to shorten one end and cut new ring slots. I have one on my desk on my desk for an old Marlin 27 pump rifle. It says its for Marlin 9, 45, 30AW/AS 36, 62, 93 336 (al models 375, 444, 1893, 1894 and etc.

This base has two holes on one end and four on the other end. The two inner hole will fit the OP's hole spacing. The end with four hole fit my Marlin 27 with factory drilled hole for a vintage Hepburn peep sight.

Would you be willing to sell the one you have ?

finally

I can't believe I was that dumb about the whole matter. I spent at least 15 hours on the internet looking. It would have been nice if when I called Marlin, they would have enlightened me about the issue instead of telling me it's a discontinued part and unavailable. Same goes for Weaver too. Oh well it's over finally.

Glad you got it figured out, and most of us have done something like that, or worse a time or two in our lives. A few of us even admit it, as you did.:D

its done, so thread closed.
