wanted P7, got Gov't Model

Just this morning, I went to my trusty arms provisioner to relieve him of one of his used P7's. These are old police guns, but have no milling mark like the German refurb's, and were looked after rather well. $699 is the asking price. Well, lo and behold, next to the P7s in the case was a LNIB blue enhanced Gov't Model .45, complete with Wilson FLGR(I know, guide rods...), nice rosewood grips, 2 factory mags and 2 shooting stars, for $500! Never being one to walk away from a good deal, I snapped it up. The P7 will have to wait. Just can't get away from ol' slabsides. In heaven there are no 1911's, that's why we shoot them here!
BTW it's gorgeous and tight as a drum. I know the series 80's of recent manufacture are not generally renowned for their quality, but the last two I've adopted have been exquisitely manufactured. Anyway, just had to share...hope you don't mind the long confession. Anyone else have a last-minute change of heart when it's love at first sight(even if it's an old flame like the Gov't Model)? Thanks for listening!

Too bad...should have gone for the P7. Very different shooter from the .45. And with this "thing" about HK being up on the block, possibly with Colt, you should pick one up.

They really are amazing. Nothing seems to shoot as accurately or as safely in a "stock" pistol.

Man, Forseti, some people just can't be happy for two crazy kids in love, huh? :D

I know what you're talking about, Funky. I swore after the "Worst trade you ever made" threads that I wouldn't trade my G17 when it gets here. But the longer it takes, the more it seems like the CZ-75 is calling my name. You'd think I could get a lightly used CZ and some ammo for a brand-spankin' new Gen 3 Glock, right?

BUT I am still resisting the horse-trading demons, reasoning that once I have the Glock and convince myself it's reliable I'll have all the time in the world to save up for that sweeeeet CZ . . . . .

I have heard of and experienced some problems with later Series 80s guns, mostly Gold Cups, but I gotta admit, I love my Series 80 Combat Government. Great gun, very well made. Of course it is an early Series 80...
