Find your local GOP HQ or Bush/Cheney HQ and get what I call a 'volunteer kit'. Kit includes 2-yard signs, one for you and one to give out, 4 bumper stickers, 2 for you, 2 to give out - put magnents on them if you don't want them to be permanently fixed to your car/truck/van, last, pick up 10 post cards, pamplets, flyers, mailers etc....and send them, from you, to 10 of your friends.

That my friends will move a mountain and move it far.

If the HQ has a plan for contacting people and you don't mind giving them the addresses of the 10 friends you are contacting, give it to them. You want to try to contact the 'swing' voter 3 times-via mail, phone, media in some shape or form. The HQ may also pay for the stamps if you bring them back in. It is up to the HQ and the $$$.

Get the kit and fight till we've kicked Clinton and Gore's A$$. Gore just becuase, Clinton because it will piss him off to no end to see his jr. partner to loose.

If gunnies and GOP is so motivated, we should all be able to handle one of what i call 'kits'.

I went down to the local gop headquarters and they told me that here in Indiana bush was prettty much a lock so they wouldn't need my signs. Apparently indiana hasn't voted for a democrat for president since 64 so I hope they are right and they could use the money in the more liberal states like ny or Kalifornia.

While putting my Bush bumper sticker on, I started wondering what kind of person chooses a candidate based on how many bumper stickers they see?

The kind of person who lives in a country where less than 20% of the eligible voters get off their duffs and vote during an election.

Don't ever take anything for granted, regardless of what some others may say. The minute you do that, they'll take your firearms away. Be active. Get a bumpersticker. Don't be content to just win. WIN BIG so that we can spend a little more time shooting over the next four years and less time typing.

You would be surprised at the number of people who vote for folks based not on what they stand for, etc., but on whether or not they're predicted to win... they call it the bandwagon effect. Then there's the folks who'll stand up and say "Well, I don't like a darn bit of what they're standing for, but my Daddy voted democrat, so that's how I stand."

I will vote for him and continue to show others the positive slight differences between him and gun control Gore.
But...as far as sending any money Id rather help GOA help elect no compromise congressmen to congress to make sure Bush doesnt have the chance to write in any laws like the mandatory trigger lock sales bill he said he would if it reached his desk.
Not to mention trying to prevent him from expanding on any more american worker ripping
agreements like NAFTA that Bush has shown open support for and the china trade bill
and the UN.....

TearsOfRage: while working for pro-gun candidates for the last six years, I always thought the yard signs meant a lot. After talking to more experienced politicos, and from my own experience, it would seem that they don't have as much effect as you would think. In '98, my guy had so many signs the city looked like a blue forest. But he didn't have the $$$ for TV ads, much less well-done TV ads. That's where it becomes a make or break point for a candidate. So, I'll put up a yard sign and get others to do so, and hand out bumper stickers. But I'll be sending any money I can to the Bush campaign, and to the campaign of a pro-gun congressional candidate in my district.

I just came back from and NRA ILA seminar in Phx. They said that a bumber sticker near election time is worth $400 in advertising. Same with yard signs. Talking to individuals causually on why you are going to vote for one candidate over another is worth even more. Most people are not as informed as you are. It is your doody to help them out ;)

Rick, I hope you don't think I was poo-pooing the value of yard signs and bumper stickers.
That $400 figure is very interesting. I just wanted to emphasize that the Bush/Gore fight will be won by TV ads, and they cost a fortune.

I'll tell you what really works. If you really want Bush to get elected, go volunteer at Republican HQ on election day. Sit down at a phone and call all of the Registered Republicans and ask them to vote. Offer to arange rides if they are not able to get to the polls. Tell them where the polling place is and offer to provide them with a map.

It's called getting out the vote, and it works.

As to my friends, most are still my friend because I refuse to annoy them about political BS and they do the same for me. That is why we are still friends. You need to reach the people you don't know, who need to be encouraged to get out and vote. I know where my friends stand, talking to them is a waste of time.

I live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, so Bush and Cheney have very little chance here, even with our Republican governor.

However, I am going to take your suggestion and volunteer. I have been donating what money I can. Next step is to get active in the process and put my mouth where my money already is.

Don't wait until election day. Sometime soon after Labor Day, call up the local campaign headquarters (or just drive over) and tell them you want to distribute a few signs...maybe five. After you have done that, come back for more. If they need help with phone banks, offer them an hour or two a night a couple nights a week in October. Place a bumpersticker on your car and your spouse's. When conversation steers its way toward the election let people know (without droning on) that you will be voting for Bush. Encourage your friends, clubbies and chums to take the time to vote.

Some of the above take more time than others. All of it adds up.

If you are unsure where to go, you can call up NRA-ILA and ask them to steer you to the local NRA "Election Volunteer Coordinator" or EVC (I think that is what they are called). They will point you in the right direction. I would guess the NRA 800# might help you.

The time is now.
