Want to add a .40 cal

I have a couple of Glocks in .45, a 9mm, and a .32 Beretta. I want to add a .40, and have heard good things about the HK USP. Would this be a good choice? Is there a particular model that would be better for carry and IDPA/PPC type matches? I don't know anything about the HK's and just don't want to make a mistake.

HK USP...a mistake? I have only drooled on a couple of hundred
and shot a few. They are on my list of " must have to have lived a full life" stuff. They are one of the best guns money can buy.
just IMO.......Go for it and shoot well

Well, there are a ton of 40's out there now. But since you seem to be a glock man already, why not go for the 22, or 23? The HK seems a bit big for CCW to me. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but it seems a bit wide imho.
I personally have 2 guns in 40, one is the Taurus pt 100, the other is the Springfield P9. Basically, a CZ variant.
It all depends on what fits your hand, and build for carry.
But back to the glock, I thought they came out with a 40 specifically for idpa.
And there is the 22C.

H&K USP-C, Glock 23, or Sig P229. The Glock
will definitely be less espensive.

I am leaning towards the Glock, I just wanted to expand my horizons a little. I don't want to get to where I am just touting the virtues of the Glock without haveing a little variety. I didn't consider the width of the HK, that is a valid point. Does the Sig have a narrower profile? Any one have any experiences with the Sig Pro? It definately has the "cool" factor, but looks like it takes a funky looking magazine, and maybe holsters not readily available.

Im carrying a PT 100 AFS Taurus now but its a bit on the big size for Conceal Carry. I did get the honors of handling the new CZ 100 in .40 ITs polymer, DAO and has nice sights on it. The guy shooting it put up some nice groups and praised it tremendously. He had owned a Glock and likes the CZ much better. It has a double stack 10 round mag and the grip is nice and slim. Alot smaller then my PT100. Im leaning on possibly getting one of them buggers for myself. CZ is a good manufacture and he picked it up in Prescott AZ for a little over $300.

Critter...

I've had a Glock 27 for over two years and (as you probably already know) it's been a great pistol. For some reason a lot of people report that their G27 is more accurate than the larger .40's! (Me included.) I don't know what it is exactly, but Glock got this one "extra right". A lot has been said about recoil. Everybody "feels" recoil differently, but I do think that my G27 is a pleasure to shoot. My wife even loves to shoot it. (And she's the "revolver" type.)
Everything is "stock" on the pistol except for Trijicon night sights.
(I ought to stop hunting for the "perfect" 1911 and buy a G36/G30 and be done with it. And I'm close to doing that very thing!)

I think I may end up with a 23. If I am not mistaken, it will fit the same holster as my G-36. I don't know if the mags will fit in the mag carrier though. I have a Milt sparks VM-2 and mag carrier and love the holster, but they are just so expensive. I'm really having a tough time deciding, but I thank everyone for their suggestions.

Just read...

an article regarding the Kahr P40 .40 S&W and the author seemed to like it quite a bit. The only problems he spoke of were minor. First, the slide stop lever has sharp edges. Second, this broke a magazine release button which Kahr fixed overnight. The author stated that he would buy the gun without reservation.

Which .40

I'll attest to the Glock 27 ;) Got one and love it.
Now if you want something a little bigger take a look at the Beretta Cougar series. The 8040 comes full size or compact and I believe it to be a good gun for the money :) I own both the 8040 and the 8045. :D

Just thought I'd toss this in the ring, Hope it helps ;)
